March 9th-13th

Hello Families of Room 2!
Listed below are the important reminders and objectives for our week.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!

Important Reminders:

  • Friday the 13th is a half day.  Dismissal is at 11:50.
  • Friday we will celebrate the students  completing their 0-12 multiplication facts with an ice cream party!  I am so proud of all of their hard work!
  • In honor of our class average increasing in both reading and math evaluate, the students voted on two celebrations.  The first one will be on Monday- they chose to line up and sit on the carpet wherever they would like (they normally have assigned spots for both).  The second celebration will be on Friday-they chose to have a "Wheel of Fortune" party.  We will play the game while eating our ice cream on Friday!
  • The staff vs. students volleyball game will be this Wednesday the 11th from 2-3 p.m.
  • Please remind your child to wear their blue ribbon shirts for our assembly on Friday!
  • The box top classroom contest has begun!  Please send in any box tops you have with your child until April 3rd!  We are really hoping to win that Pizza Party!
Weekly Objectives:

Writing:  This week we will continue Adapting and Writing Fairy Tales
. We will focus on including dialogue and creating powerful endings.

Reading: During reading this week, we are going to continue to focus on point of view.  We have seen this topic come up frequently in the evaluate, so we are going to spend some time understanding the different points of view between ourselves as the reader and the characters in a text.  This week will focus on point of view in a nonfiction text.

Science:  Due to counselor, the half day, evaluate, and the staff volleyball game, we will not have science this week.  We will start the new social studies chapter when we return from Spring Break.

Math:  This week in math, we will continue Chapter 11: Measurement.  We will focus on time and time intervals.  Our test on this chapter will be on Thursday!

Have a great week!
