September 15th-19th

Hello Families of Room 2!
Listed below are the important reminders and objectives for our week.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!

Important Reminders:

  • This week we will have counselor on Library from 2:30-3:00.
  • We have an early release day on Wednesday.  Please make sure to inform me of any dismissal changes!
  • Scholastic Book Orders are due this Wednesday the 17th!
Weekly Objectives:

Writing:  In writing this week, we will be "fast-drafting".  This means we will be writing fast and furiously to get our ideas down onto our paper as quickly as possible!


Reading:  This week we will focus on visualization to understand a story.  We will work on connecting our mental images to the text! 


Social Studies:  This week we will be continue Chapter 2: Land forms and Continents.  We are going to learn about grid maps and then make our own!

Math:  This week we are going to have our first  math test on Chapter 1: Place Value on Friday.  Be on the lookout for math homework that will be coming home that your child can study from!

Read Aloud

Today Josh shared "Hop on Pop" by Dr. Seuss. He said his Mom and Dad read this book to him when he was a baby and it is very special to him! Thanks for sharing, Josh!

  • This week we will have counselor on Tuesday from 2:30-3:00.
Weekly Objectives:

Writing:  In writing this week, we will be setting goals for our writing and discovering ways that we can make our writing better! 


Reading:  This week we will continue our reading unit on learning how to "build a reading life".  Just like in writing, readers will set goals for themselves in order to become stronger readers!


Social Studies:  This week we will be starting Chapter 2: Land forms and Continents.  We will discuss the 7 continents and 5 oceans!

Math:  This week we are going to begin Chapter 1: Place Value.  Be on the lookout for math homework that will be coming home!

Our leader of the week this week is Grace! Today she shared her favorite book with us and read it to the class. "I Love You, Mister Bear" was a great story!  Thanks for sharing Grace!

September 2nd-5th

Good Afternoon Families of Room 2!
Listed below are the important reminders and objectives for our week.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!

Important Reminders:

  • Don't forget your child may bring in a snack and water bottle!
  • This week we will have our first library lesson on Tuesday from 2:30-3:00.   
  • Concord movie night is this Friday at 6:30 in the gym!
  • Bus driver day is this Friday!  Make sure to say thank you to our awesome bus drivers!
Weekly Objectives:

Writing:  This week we will begin our narrative writing unit.  We will be focusing on strategies for generating ideas for true stories! 


Reading: Our reading stamina is up to 35 minutes!  The class is doing awesome during reader's workshop!  This week we will begin our reading unit on learning how to "build a reading life".


Social Studies:  On Wednesday, we are going to have our Chapter 1 test on neighborhoods and communities.  Be on the lookout for vocabulary cards and a study guide in your child's expanding folder to study for the test with.

Math:  This week we are going to continue to build our math community and review the expectations of math centers.  We will work independently as well as in small groups!
